FG sends ICPC boss, Nta Expo on compulsory leave

Abuja— Mr. Nta Expo, Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, may have been sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari. An ICPC source told Vanguard, yesterday, that a letter from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, informed Mr. Expo that he should proceed on compulsory leave beginning from today, October 26. The source told Vanguard that the Chairman had earlier received two letters from the office of the SGF, informing him to proceed on compulsory leave, which he allegedly ignored. Ekpo Nta Mr. Nta was appointed by President Jonathan in acting capacity in 2011 and was confirmed a year after by the Senate. It was gathered that at a meeting with President Buhari earlier this year, Expo had argued that his tenure would end on November 17, 2017, to which the President allegedly retorted that by his records, the tenure of the ICPC head ends on November 17, 2016. Vanguard learned that the Chairman plans to formally inform staff of the commission about his formal exit this morning. Although no reason was given for the abrupt sack of the ICPC boss, it was gathered that his handling of corruption cases against former governors may have nailed him.

Ghanaian President, John Mahama, during am Eid-el-fitr speech, blamed irregular power cuts in his country on Nigeria due to the delays in the delivery of crude oil from Nigeria to power thermal plants in Ghana, due to the activities of Niger Delta Avengers, who have been blowing up oil and gas pipelines in the Niger Delta.
The Niger Delta Avengers ,yesterday, blew up three Chevron manifolds at Diogbolo, near Dibi, Warri Local Government Area of Delta State, using controlled explosive devices.

Mahama said:
“We have recently suffered some generational problems. I held a stakeholders’ meeting with all those involved in the power sector. Because of sabotage in Nigeria on the terminals, crude oil that we ordered last month has not arrived; and so, it has created some generational problem for us."

“We are taking steps every day to ensure that Ghana has security when it comes to power.

Bauchi uncovers 6,065 ghost workers on payroll

The Bauchi State Government said it had discovered 6,065 ghost workers on its payroll.
The discovery followed the workers’ verification the state government compelled all civil servants to do since January this year.
The state Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, disclosed this during an interactive session with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Bauchi State Council, at the Government House, Bauchi,  on Sunday.
He admitted that there were lapses in the last rounds of the exercise in the state.
He said there were two set of errors in the last phase of the verification. The errors, he said, were human mistake which he apologised for, while he described the other as “deliberate sabotage.”
Abubakar said the state government was already using administrative rule to investigate workers involved in the sabotage, saying those found guilty would be dealt according to the law.
“During the exercise, we discovered 6,065 ghost workers on the payroll of the Bauchi State Government. This number could not be rated as small because even if you get 10 ghost workers, the exercise will be  worth it as they will be taking much money illegally.
“There were lapses during the exercise and they were continuous. Don’t forget; the forces that endangered this phenomenon of ghost workers are very strong forces. They have been entrenched over time and a lot of money is being siphoned out of the coffers of the government.
“Those forces will not fold their arms and allow us to put
